NC Sustainable Energy Association Leadership Fund established to drive forward consumer-focused energy policy

NCSEA Leadership Fund (NCSEA LF) will work with state decision-makers to advance energy policies focused on creating jobs, lowering costs, and making our communities more resilient.

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC Sustainable Energy Association Leadership Fund (NCSEA LF), a non-partisan nonprofit (501(c)(4)) has officially launched, naming a new Board of Directors to help guide a path to drive forward policy solutions that place consumers at the center of North Carolina’s energy future. The new organization aims to advance practical energy solutions that strengthen North Carolina’s economy, protect consumers, and promote energy independence.

NCSEA LF’s goal is to build an understanding amongst state decision-makers that forward-thinking energy policies can create jobs, lower costs, and make our communities more resilient. Its sister organization, the NC Sustainable Energy Association (501(c)(3)) develops policy recommendations in close consultation with its community of members, while NCSEA LF will focus on advocating for strong consumer-focused energy solutions at the NC General Assembly. The NCSEA LF PAC will support candidates’ campaigns in their pursuit of enacting affordable, commonsense energy solutions.

NCSEA LF’s Board of Directors make up a broad spectrum of clean energy nonprofit and business leaders that bring years of experience and expertise to the table as the nonprofit continues to make positive strides in energy affordability and resilience in North Carolina. Members include Shasten Jolley (Greentech Renewables), Jack Morrissey (American Conservation Coalition), Nicole Miller (Cypress Creek Renewables), Usman Noor (8MSolar), and Hannah Elliott (Renu Energy Solutions).

“Our energy ecosystem is at a pivotal crossroads marked by significant challenges and opportunities stemming from large projected load growth and rising electricity rates,” said Matt Abele, executive director at the NC Sustainable Energy Association Leadership Fund. “We’re establishing this organization at a time where it’s instrumental that our state decision-makers advance solutions designed to maintain low electricity rates and ensure North Carolina continues to be a top state for business. NCSEA Leadership Fund will be a leading voice in these conversations to ensure North Carolina is a national leader throughout this transitionary period in energy.”

As NCSEA LF begins operations, the organization will focus on championing consumer-driven energy policies, supporting leaders who put people first, empowering communities and businesses, and driving long-term progress. These foundational pillars of the organization lead to an initial focus on advancing behind-the-meter freedom, industrial energy independence, and customer-sited generation permitting reform. Each of these solutions, and a full background on the newly established organization, can be found at energyncleadership.org.
